Learning To Accept The Things You're Not, While...
There is something to be said for learning to accept your limitations. From early childhood we’re told we can be and/or do anything we want. Why? Because it’s simply too depressing to tell a child that no, in fact you can not do everything everyone else can. That’s what makes the world turn round. We all fall into our groove and find stuff we’re good at and not.  ...

I’ve been listing to the audio book all day now. I am loving it, though the narrator is a little flat. Why couldn’t they get Sir Ian Mckellan to narrate it? He makes everything better, but I digress. All I can say about this book is read it. If you gain nothing else from hearing the story of a man who went from a boy being suspended time after time to a man controlling one of the...

So Down?
I am unsure why every one is so down on Apples announcement today. I mean was it that unexpected they would do an incremental update? You’re the asshole for buying into the rumor mill, not Apple. I think it’s a pretty nice update to the iPhone. Especially for people coming into the space for the first time.  To those people complaining about the features added to iOS 5 to Android,...

I don’t particularly like posting about negative things but tonight I have seen two things that have pretty much ruined my faith in humanity. I won’t get into details cause I don’t particularly feel like ruining anyone else’s night, so you’ll just have to take my work.  Someone cheer me up, give me some hope that we’re not all an udder bunch of crap…

MIUI - Droid X
Sadly I got rid of my iPhone 3g last year to switch to Verizon. About 6 months before the iPhone went to Verizon. Mad? Oh no not much. This was right around when the Droid X was released and as it had the biggest screen and one of the most powerful processors at the time I dove right in. My mistake was not realized for about 3 months. Then I started getting the random reboots, locks, and crashes....

The One About Trail Rants
Since the weather has been so pleasent lately I have been taking the dogs down a local trail that is close to my house. The trail itself is nothing too drastic, just a simple walk through the local scrub. It’s been fun, and I am tracking my walks with RunKeeper, hoping I can track my progress and push my self a little farther each day, but that is not the point of this post, so maybe a...

Crafty
Recently I had a friend turn me on to this wonderful little item called 550 Paracord. What a brilliant little rope it is! As is stands 550 Paracord works wonderfully for holding stuff down when you need it or making a quick and dirty dog tie out when you forgot yours, but it also makes great crafting material.  I like to make stuff with my hands. There is a certain sense of satisfaction I get,...

Jonathan Beckett: Thoughts on the Verizon iPhone →
jonbeckett: I’ve been reading the news story about the Verizon iPhone with interest over the last few weeks - and wondering why huge swathes of America went down the route of CDMA mobile networks. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, it boils down to this - a Verizon iPhone will pretty much only work… Apple put the newish Qualcomm MDM6600 chip that allows for both CMDA and GSM...

Dinner
Last night I ventured out to make a pretty disastrous seared Ahi dish. Though I think it had to do more with the quality of the fish and less with my skills as a chef. The worst part about the whole affair is that my wife is not particularly fond seafood. So when I do talk her into eating it the quality needs to be top notch. I can’t say that about Costco’s Ahi. Fishy and old tasting,...

Lens work
I’ve got to send some lenses back to Sigma due to some issues. First my 24-70mm 2.8 is having trouble with back focus. At first I simply thought I needed to adjust the back focus for my camera but as this keeps changing I think the lens needs a calibration. Second is my 70-200mm 2.8. This lens has decided to stop focusing after some use and will only start auto focusing again after I turn...

What would you do if you had a million dollars?
Peter Gibbons: What would you do if you had a million dollars?
Lawrence: I'll tell you what I'd do, man: two chicks at the same time, man.
Peter Gibbons: That's it? If you had a million dollars, you'd do two chicks at the same time?
Lawrence: Damn straight. I always wanted to do that, man. And I think if I were a millionaire I could hook that up, too; 'cause chicks dig dudes with money.
Peter Gibbons: Well, not all chicks.
Lawrence: Well, the type of chicks that'd double up on a dude like me do.
Peter Gibbons: Good point.
Lawrence: Well, what about you now? what would you do?
Peter Gibbons: Besides two chicks at the same time?
Lawrence: Well, yeah.
Peter Gibbons: Nothing.
Lawrence: Nothing, huh?
Peter Gibbons: I would relax... I would sit on my ass all day... I would do nothing.
Lawrence: Well, you don't need a million dollars to do nothing, man. Take a look at my cousin: he's broke, don't do shit.

Still
Still one of my most favorite movies ever. Cinematography, epic. Writing, excelent. Acting, spot on. Trees floating through space in airtight bubbles? What more could you ask for!? Seriously Aronofsky hit it out of the park with this one.
